Classroom

I’m looking forward to speaking to 325 teacher candidates on Monday, Nov. 21 at Authorfest 2016 (a University of British Columbia Education Library and Vancouver Children’s Literature Roundtable event).

I’m privileged to share the stage with fellow children’s-book pros Rae Mate and Deborah Hodge. We’ll be speaking on our books, our creative process and the ways teachers can work with kids to foster a love of reading, writing and learning. Also, I’ll be touching on jump-starting reluctant readers, especially boys, and how teachers can make the most of an author’s presentation.

For this night only, my book Jump-Starting Boys will be on sale and discounted from its usual $17 to the “starving-student” price of $9. Hoping that helps out future teachers, whom we all salute!

P.S. (You’ll also get a sneak peek at the cover of my forthcoming young-adult adventure novel from Dundurn Press, Tracker’s Canyon.)
